Jay Colburn has joined York General Health Care Services as Administrator of York General Hearthstone a 129-bed skilled nursing care facility. Colburn comes to the Hearthstone with 10 years of experience in skilled nursing facilities as well as assisted living. His experience started as a cook, nurse aide, activity assistant in a memory support unit and the last seven years he has served as an administrator in Nebraska nursing facilities. He has an excellent background in growth, quality outcomes, and customer satisfaction.
Colburn said he is passionate about serving the elderly. "I believe that both quality care and customer service for the elderly is best achieved by the satisfaction of the employees that work there," said Colburn. "I believe I demonstrate a sense of ownership and pride in the work I does. My goal is to model these same behaviors for the residents, their families, and the staff at York General Hearthstone creating an excellence experience for all."
Colburn and his wife Carma and their two children have recently relocated to York. They are very excited to raise their children in the York community and to be able to enjoy all that York has to offer. He enjoys time with his family, taking walks, reading, working in his yard and occasionally fishing.
The public is invited to stop by the Hearthstone to meet Colburn at an Open House on June 26, 2008 from 1:00 - 2:30pm in the Great Room.

Relay for Life this Saturday
Why not make plans to come to the York High School track this Saturday evening and take a few laps at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. There have been stories in the paper the past couple of weeks on this fund-raiser for cancer research and you might have read them. What you might not realize is how moving and powerful this event can be.
Just about everyone has been touched by cancer whether it is a family member, a co-worker, a friend or neighbor. The emotion that's evident when the survivors' lap takes place is hard to explain. And when nightfall comes and the luminaries surrounding the track have been lit, well, the emotion just comes at you a little harder.
If you're in town or in the area, come and walk a few laps. You'll be glad you did.
