Farmers Market to kick off this Thursday.
Looking for some fresh veggies? How about some soaps and lotions? Well, this Thursday, June 5 signals the beginning of the Farmers Market on the courthouse square in York. It starts this Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
"We have 25 vendors signed up so there promises to be a great variety of produce, craft items, baked goods and other information each and every week," said Todd Kirshenbaum, executive of the Greater York Area Chamber of Commerce. "The Eagles Club has agreed to provide grilled burgers and hot dogs for sale each week. They will be located next to the Courthouse near the Sheriff's office and we will also have shaved ice each week complements of Matt and Laura Coppinger.
Some of the other vendors according to Kirshenbaum include McLean Beef with frozen beef AND pork products; Cabin Cream Soap will have handmade goat-milk soaps and lotions; Whistle Stop Pottery will have handmade pottery for sale; JnL Crafts have beautifully carved pens and other items; Ratzlaff Farms will once again have their popular Soybean Mulch. And that's just a sample of the vendors who will be at the market throughout the summer and fall.
"I'll let you know of any special products and produce you can expect," said Kirshenbaum. "Be sure and look for me or Suzie Ellis at the market to pick up your new FREQUENT SHOPPER card. Get it punched at each vendor after you make a purchase...when the card is full, turn it into the Chamber and you'll be eligible for monthly drawings. We will also have our new Farmers Market tote bags for sale. Hope you get a chance to enjoy the homemade baked goods, the produce and the crafts at the market."
See you at the Farmer's Market starting this Thursday.
Midway Madness
Kids already looking for something to do even though school has only been out a week or so? Mark your calendar for June 16-18 for the annual Midway Madness carnival sponsored by the Greater York Area Chamber of Commerce. Richard's Amusements will be set up west of the York City Auditorium with rides and games galore. Don't miss out.
Fireworks Frenzy needs YOU!
If you enjoyed last year's fireworks display here in York, I'm sure you'll want to help make sure this year's show is just as good. FRENZY DONATION CANS ARE OUT. The familiar donation cans for the Firecracker Frenzy are out in the community. Please drop your spare change in one of these cans when you do business at one of these York locations: YORK COUNTRY CLUB, RUNZA DRIVE IN NORTH, RUNZA DRIVE IN SOUTH, CASEY'S NORTH, CASEY'S SOUTH, TACO JOHN'S NORTH, TACO JOHN'S SOUTH, KIRK'S KORNER, REGION V, THE YORK SENIOR CENTER, THE JAVA HUT/NEBRASKA LAND VIDEOS, McDONALD'S, PAMIDA, BURGER KING, ARBY'S, PIZZA HUT SOUTH, BAG N SAVE, PUMP & PANTRY, GRAND CENTRAL FOODS, WALGREEN'S, THE CHANCES 'R, MIDWAY BAR AND GRILL and CASA DEL RAE. Thanks in advance for your generous contributions. You can also stop by the Chamber office to make a donation for the big July 3rd show.
Thought for the week:
Once your garage sale is done and the last customer has left and you've got everything moved back in the garage that hasn't sold, do your friends and neighbors a favor and go out and remove all the garage sale signs that you've put up around town. Nothing worse than five-day-old signs still up directing people to a sale that's been over since last weekend.
